ADULTS 18+ ONLY

The American University in Cairo advises in its 1999/2000 faculty handbook that
".....public gestures of affection between two person of the same sex that are perceived as homosexual behaviour can provoke a strong reaction. Also, earrings on men are considered to be a sign of homosexuality. There is no gay rights movement in Egypt for the simple reason that homosexuality is illegal."
The handbook then spells out the draconian penalties which face all those who might be involved in consensual homosexual behaviour and concludes ".....One cannot overemphasize that homosexual relations are not welcome in Egypt."
Little, if anything, seems to be mentioned about advice or support which might be offered to gay students, at least not a word was not visible to me in the handbook, and all this from a University supposedly representing the land of the free !
