On Friday night I booked a room in the small City View Hotel with a window directly overlooking the Square. Early in the morning on Saturday there was already a strong police and security police presence. Some of the latter had even been sleeping with blankets on the park benches. But then around 10.30am van after van brought up police reinforcements and every now and again a column would march past under the window. Then astonishingly at around this time and before Friday prayers had started - this man in a wheel chair entered the square carrying a carboard carton with a protest slogan. Then understandably when he saw four heavily armed police men running towards him (two shown here) he lowered the placard to his right. I didn't take another picture as I was worried about having my camera confiscated as the window was now so high up and whenever I took a photograph I was clearly visible from the street.
